Un gradito ritorno. Tre anni dopo l’ultimo 12”, il nuovo lavoro di Gosub è tanto breve quanto curato. “Sunday At Battle Ship Key” (2016), rilasciato dalla croata Barba Records, si compone di due brani originali e un convincente remix, firmato da JTC.
L’approccio sonoro del produttore statunitense è pressoché lo stesso di sempre, a favore di un electro intelligente impreziosita da venature sci-fi. La resa analogica è, ovviamente, alta. E l’atmosfera si surriscalda in meno di un istante.
Un pugno di accordi eterei. Onde sonore. E percussioni pesanti come la balena in copertina. L’ascolto di My Stars Or Yours, con la partecipazione di un ancora indecifrabile Mr X, è gradevole, scorre fluido tra un gorgheggio elettronico e l’altro.
La mente può vagare felice sul mare di note del lato A. La traccia mette così in mostra l’esperienza maturata nel tempo da Shad T. Scott. Eppure è la title-track a rivelare, invece, il frangente più penetrante e riflessivo del vinile. Tra battute strette ed echi acid.
Il solare remix di Sunday At Battle Ship Key di James T. Cotton chiude il lato B con notevole maestria. Un sofisticato esercizio deep house che, forse, mette in comunicazione due mondi sonori già di per sé non distanti anni luce. Tutto può succedere.

The sound approach of the US producer is almost the same as always, in favor of an intelligent electro enhanced by sci-fi veins. The analog output is obviously high. And the atmosphere becomes hot in less than an instant.
A handful of ethereal chords. Sound waves. And heavy percussion as the whale on the cover. Listening to My Stars Or Yours, with the participation of a still undecipherable Mr X, is nice, flows fluid between an electronic warble and the other.
The mind can wander happy on side A sea of notes. The track displays the experience gained over time by Shad T. Scott. Nevertheless it is the title-track to reveal, however, the more penetrating and thoughtful juncture of the vinyl. Between tight beats and acid echoes.
The solar remix of Sunday At Battle Ship Key by James T. Cotton closes side B with considerable skill. A sophisticated deep house exercise that, perhaps, connects two sound worlds already not light years away. Anything could happen.
